All taken with the 70-300mm DO IS USM + 350d
Batch Processed in PS Elements to: Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, Auto Colours, Sharpen. And resized to be 800 pixels wide.

C&C much appreciated,

Joe

I think the auto levels and contrast has made them look a bit too over done, same with the sharpening.

They're all perfectly timed and in focus though. I was at the entrance to the Esses when that carnage happened. Will post a few of mine up soon.

That Porsche is a sexual motor. I switched from jpeg to RAW just so I could get a few of it and get an A3 print done!

Thanks Dave, your comments are very much appreciated, simply because all of your photos on here are excellent!!
I actually took about 300 shots yesterday, but probably only have about 20% "keepers"!!!

I do agree about the overdoing it, especially with the sharpness and contrast, but I did it and didn't have the time to redo!!!

Cheers

I never use the auto settings in Photoshop for levels and contrast etc, to me the always look a little bit blue.

I have only just started using batch processing too, but ONLY to resize & add my rubbish branding etc. If I need to make any adjustments I do it before I start the batch. If I need to add unsharp mask or whatever I do that separately too.

Also worth noting that if I can't get the image looking how I want it in under a minute, bin it. lol

I understand what you mean about binning the images if you can't get it 'right' very quickly.
Also, this is only my second real attempt at using PS to process and resize etc, so I pretty much just 'ticked all the boxes' to see how well it performed!!! (not as good as I was execting to be honest).

In your post to my other thread, you mentioned Velviavision... I've just downloaded it now and am about to install it. Have you got any 'stock' settings or is it a very fine art if you see what I mean?

I just use a varying degree of intensity on Velvia Vision, I'll have a look tonight and see what's what. I never go above 5% though, or they look over saturated. Just trial and error.

I found a pic on the web that I thought was nicely saturated etc and played around in Photoshop that way.

I don't use the 'Sharpen' filter either, just Unsharp Mask.

Batching is nice and easy, but some images may need more processing than others, and that's when you can hit trouble.

I'll be using the same body and lens at a AMA bike race in a couple weeks. I hope I can get shots like those. Did you shoot in Sports mode?

Sports mode is not a good idea if you want to get some motion blur.

It defaults to ISO400 and 1/2000s or something, so you get frozen action, which is great for football for example but not so good if you want to convey a sense of speed.
