Painting With Fire

After a shoot today, my two street artist friends had some fun.
These shots were in an abandoned warehouse.
They were shot in almost complete darkness.
The only lighting is from the cans.
I do not recommend others trying this, it was performed by professionals.. :wink:

Wow nicely done! In these pics, how long were they holding the cans on fire like that for? I used to do it when I was young for a split second in fear the can would burst!

Thanks for the replies.
The cans were on fire for up to 20 or 30 seconds at a time.
And then until the paint ran out.
It certainly warmed the room up very quickly nad suprisingly didnt smell too much.

Interesting... I saw a street artist in Akumal Mexico using this technique to dry his art between phases... or at least that's what I assume he was doing (not just showing off). It's funny, the only time he was smiling is when he was lighting the place up.

The lighting in the first pic is nice. Maybe Canon can produce a speedlite using this concept.

The two guys reported back to me with blisters on their fingers from the heat of the flames.
But sometimes you just have to do these things to get the shot (easy for me to say as I wasn't holding a flaming can...!!!).
