Is there a way to buy the 2200 ink in bulk? I am thinking of trading in my 1280 and getting the 2200, but worried about the ink price.
I like the 1280 a lot (only had it a week). I had planned on having it only for personal use, and then send photos to the lab for printing to sell (archival), but after reading about the 2200, I realize there is no need to go to the lab.
I am just trying to figure the ink costs though...

I have been using the epson 2200 and there are advantage over the 1280. One is the 2200 has 7 different seperate inks so you only have to change the one you run out of. The price per cartridge is between $9 and $12 depending on where you buy it. The cost per square (8 x 10 = 80 squares) I have come up with so far for printing photographs is between .011 and .015 (1.1 to 1.5 cents) per square.

$8.90 per tank at http://www.atlex.com
Or you can buy the lyson Cave paint bulk feed system for around $400.00 and save tons of money. I have the Lyson Cave sytem and love it and the money I have saved big time. Here is were you can ger it http://www.dtgweb.com Best of luck!

Thanks for the info!
I have bought the original epson cartridges from atlex.
I am wondering if the Quality of the print from the bulk ink is as good as the epson ink?
Also what the % savings you have noticed over the OEM inks
Thanks again

Try "TheNerds.com". In the past they have had the lowest prices on ink for the 2200. However, their inventory is spotty. When it is spotty, I will use Altex.com. They're about .30 to .40 more but they usually have the inventory that you'll need.
