I went out shooting my usual subjects this afternoon (railroads) and came across a shot I had not seen before, at a location that I shoot at all the time. This was a tight shot, framed through a pair of roadsigns, so the options are limited. The goal was to show how tight the confines of the town are, with buildings and houses right aganst the railroad. I played around with several frames..with the house and without, a tighter tele with just the blooming bush..what do you think would have been best?

Canon 20D, iso 200, F8 @ 500. 14MM. Slight adjustments to color and contrast made in PS

A large version is here. http://jreb.org/v-web/gallery/album46/ns7501ns167hbg080706?full=1

and here is smaller one to fit the forum constraints.

You should see some of the stuff we run through if you want to see tight... :)

We have trees all over that like to rub on the train, along with houses right on the RR property line. I feel sorry for them since the steam whistle on our locomotives are quite loud compared to a deisel, and they are right by a crossing.

hi, nice shot. one advice, make it black and white. you probably will get a more interesting subject.

nice try. made the rest of the image except the train higher in contrat and darker. make the train part more saturated. haha

tried something.

I like that effect, except the fact it muted to the color of the flowers. Whats the trick to doing that?

I don't know how you could change this or done it in a different way but I'll have to agree, that's a tight spot! I can't imagine living in a house that close to active tracks!

converted to mono using channel mixer 54r,54g,10b on a new adjustment layer in CS2 and then erased on the adjustment layer the part i wanted to "bring out".

Personaly I would love living that close to the tracks, until a kid decided to take out a few spikes here an there, then it wouldnt be cool lol. E.M. Bell, very nice work on your site, very nice. I just wish Conrail was still around :(
