Downloading during the wedding?

I work for a photographer and usually during a slow point in the reception or when only one photographer is needed, she usually sends me off to start downloading the cards. Do any of you do this if you have an assistant? I was just wondering because i'm shooting a wedding by myself and a friend and i'm thinking i'm just going to skip this step and do it all when i get home. what are your opinions on this?

Also, how do you get people to laugh in posed photos? I'm not sure what to say, but most of the time, when you are doing group shots everyone is just stiff and smiling. any ideas? i don't want to come off too lame trying to get genuine expressions.

As for the laughing, poking fun and the groom is always a easy one. Jus keep talking to them, and have them talk to you back. when its silent until you need them to do something is when it becomes akward

I work by myself, and I don't have time. If you're busy doing admin stuff you're not available to take photos.

Oh yeah, your other question. Photos of people laughing aren't usually good for group photos, because laughing screws up the face and makes people look funny. The reason you ask people to use the word "cheese" is because when we make the "e" sound your face looks like you're smiling. That's why people use cheese rather than another word, though "sex" or other "e" words can work well too :)

If you feel like cheese is over done maybe try “spaghetti!” I use this one lots with my French clients that don’t speak English (I don’t speak enough French to get a real smile “ :)

i also download to a p2000 on my belt if i start to get low on cards.
