My first images posted on the forum, c&c welcome.
What do you guys recommend for PP?
Is Adobe photoshop ths best available?

Two excellent shots. For colour and interest I prefer the second shot, however both are beautifully composed.
Adobe Photoshop is the most popular world-wide. Adobe Photoshop Elements being the cheaper version but still does an excellent job but limited in certain things to Adobe Photoshop.

Thanks for that Anthony, I will invest in the elements first although I've had no real need for photoshop yet as I'm just starting with photography but the more I shoot the more I want to do.
I love this forum, especially this image sharing section.
It's inspiring!

Going to try some landscapes next, watch this space.

The second shot got my attention. Quite a jolt of color ( a good thing) in this butterfly. Beautifully captured...very nice!

Another fan of the second shot here although both are very nice. PSE is definitely much cheaper than CS2 and can do plenty. I would think that, in general, Photoshop is considered to be the industry standard for PP.
Adobe offers free trials of each at the link below. Also, Scott Kelby does a nice job of showing how to do corrections although he doesn't hit on the "why".
