The image is of Campbell Lake, on Fidalgo Island at the bottom of the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Northwest, taken from near the top of Mt. Erie. The small island in the freshwater (dark) lake made it into Ripley's because of the "island on an island" tag. The other islands in the image are in the Pacific Ocean, in the strait leading into Deception Pass.

Wonderful shot. I seem to get lost as I look into it. I can only imagine what we could see in a full panorama.

nice shot. did you go over to orcas island at all? my parents have a great place there, but Mt. consitiution is one of the highlights of the area

It was just a quick trip to the area; my girlfriend grew up on Whidbey Island and we flew in for the weekend for her grandmother's 95th birthday party. Only spent a couple of hours seeing the sights and Anacortes was as far as we went. Next time there I'd like to get further out into the San Juan's.
