Does anyone have a place they would recommend for buying a 10D from? And maybe the cheapest place you've found. Thanks for the help

Best advice:
Don't let your search for 'cheap' cloud your judgment. 'Reliable' is vastly more important. There is no way you're ever going to save more than a few bucks, but the cost in grief if you have a problem, can be significant.

It you must buy it mail order or online, stick with the big, well-established companies like B&H.

Forget cheap. You didn't pick a cheap hobby.

Yep, definitely not a cheap hobby. Thanks for the input. My G2 has recently mysteriously died on me and I don't really want to pay the repair costs, and I've been eyeing up the 10D for a while now, so I figure why not bite the bullet and get what I want :D

I just purchased the 10D with a Canon 24-85 (can't open it for another week - b-day gift). Anyway I live in the NYC metro area and could have easily saved myself a few bucks if I purchased it at B&H or J&R, although I opted to spend more money and get it at my local dealer. The reason being is he is right down the street and is staffed with numerous proffesionals who are willing to spend hours and hours with you for any issues and questions you may have. I think that if you are going to look for the cheapest deal out there you may be disappointed in the lack of support you received (if you require that). Also look out for grey market packages. I saw the 10D for 1199 and went in and it was an overseas model with no warranty. Be careful with other online dealers because they will charge you a re-stocking fee even if you have to return the product (even for damage...)... Good luck.

Hi
I ordered my 10D from RitzCamera and aside from the mountain of backorders they had, they delivered. I especially liked the free shipping for over $100 purchases, and tax free.

I have since gotten a Sigma 120-300mm F2.8 EX lens and Canon 16-35mm F2.8 L from B&H and they are great! I will definitely go to the store when I get back to the US. I will definitely have to get some Chinese food too! Oh, just thinking about it...

Cheers from England,
Canuck

Adam,
I just wanted to say that I was sorry to hear about your G2 ( great camera). It's a sad reason to get a 10D, but it is a reason 8)
I got mine at Fryes electronics a while back for the ~$1,499 price. I usually do business with B&H for my own piece of mind, but I had the money ( wedding present) and couldn't wait.
Where ever you get it, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have so far and I can't wait to see your first shots!
