Okay, I'm a (very) novice user & recently bought a Canon A620. I LOVED it (great pics, videos, ease of use, etc.) until the lense cover got stuck 1/2 closed rendering the camera useless. So, after 3 weeks of ownership, I returned it. I have since then discovered that I am not the only one who has had this problem, mostly occurring with the A540 as well as the A620. I might add that I was very careful with this camera-no bumping, dropping, or anything else that may have contributed to the faulty lense cover.

My question is, should I get another A620 in the hopes that my particular one was a bit testy, or should I spend a little more and get a SD600? Are the pics/videos/ease the same in the SD600 as the A620, or would I be losing any quality in the pics?

I also, tossed around a A540 into the equation for a while until I realized that the LCD was lacking in quality. Any thoughts?

My A620 rattles around (no case) in my backpack or in my jeans pocket along with keys and kniofe, and hasn't shown any problems. Only been 2-1/2 months, but the A80 before it had no similar problems over 3 years of the same.

Welcome to the forum! If I were you I think I would go for the SD600. If I not only was to hear of a certain model like the A620 having problems, but then experience that problem, I wouldnt take the change to go through it again. I've got the SD700IS and it is a great camera. I looked at other SD series cameras when shopping around and feel all the SD series cameras are pretty nice. Good luck! :)

My lens cover had the same problem at about 1 month of use....I sent it back to Canon and they fixed FOC. Haven't had a problem since then. I would stick with the A620, I have the A610 which is the exact same camera, just less pixels. I love the Camera.... My brother just bought the A620 online for $209.00....I great deal!!!!!!!

Thanks for your input everyone! I just ordered the A620 again. Hopefully, I made the right choice. I guess only time will tell!

Thanks again!
