I leave Friday for Flagstaff, AZ and it will be my first flight since purchasing all of my new camera gear. I plan on taking all of it, and my plan was to use my DryZone Rover as carry-on, while sending my tripod and monopod in my suitcase. Any tips on what I need to do to get all of my gear through and on to the plane, because there is no way that I'm going to let all of that equipment leave my sight! Thanks guys.

Take your most expensive gear with you on the plane. Anything that you put in checked baggage stands a chance of being stolen, because physical inspection of those bags occurs often and not every baggage handler is honest.

leave extra time to be searched, only happens when you run late. the bags and lenses are very dense, so its very hard for them to see through it, and they will often hand inspect everything.

extra time for a possible search was already something I took into account...i lived in Germany for 14 years and have had a lot of experience with flying so I already know how easily you can be delayed. I can fit everything that is in my sig into the DryZone Rover except the tripod and monopod. and of course I'm not going to be fitting my PC in there :) I think that a few hours of TV shows on my Ipaq and some headphones and i'll be set.

I'd like to add that going through an airport, once they looked at all my lenses -- they took off the caps and looked through the glass to make sure they were real. The looked through the camera's viewfinder as well. This took a few extra minutes of packing, inspecting, and repacking. I've flown dozens of times since 9/11, and only once has this happened to me.
