It was simple enough to get my two older Sigma lenses upgraded to work with my Digital Rebel...so it seems it should be just as easy to get a flash modified (grin). Is there a way or place to get my old 540EZ & ML-3 macro ring unit that have always been fine with my A2E camears to work with my fancy new digital camera?

In a word, No. Your 540ez will work in manual mode only. I think you are out of luck with the ringlight. If memory serves, that model has no manual mode.
