This is the area where the photographers shoot from during the European Athletics. I love standing behind them and watching the games, as well as the gear... ;)

Lenses look great, but the clothes are dorky and the chairs look painful.

Competition looks immense both on the track and in the press pit.

Lens porn, we all love it, but these days I'm a bit more hardcore and unless there's a 1200mm or at least a 200mm 1.8 then I'm not overly aroused. lol

The little blue aprons kind of kill the arousal factor for me.

I've seen a few N's now, but mainly Canon. :)
There are quite a few photographers. In the pit, in the press tribune, infield & among the seating places. Not many females though. :(

Usually you don't have much chances to choose from ;) You get photo vest and if you don't like it you can either not wear it and stay out, or if you want to have work done, you put that (yeah usually dorky looking) vest on and do your job, without thinking how you look in that vest. And to tell truth... usually last thing I care is how I look with that thing. More important thing is how hot that sh*** usually is! Fine in winter, but at +35c it's not really greatest thing to wear some stuff which could easly make you survive night at Antartic :)

Our venues just give us a plastic pass holder with the credentials for the day to hang around our necks.

Primoz,
Are they really that warm? Had no idea! Then the photogs been sweating a lot past couple of days, it's been fairly warm here.
I'm slightly amazed they manage to climb the 90 degrees metal steps up to the bridge going to the press tribune with all their gear. The damn stairs are horrible!

Oh, and if you all think the photogs look dorky, you should see the orange gear I've got to wear... (see blog).

It depends Claire. Sometimes you get something pretty comfortable (Giro d'Italia for example), other times you get something what looks comfortable, but being at indoor pool at +30c and 100% humidity, it just looks comfortable but doesn't feel so anymore :) And other times it really is crapy and you know you will suffer just when you see it. I would say I had worse time few years back on cycling World Championship when it was really hot, and those vests were everything but thin. For winter everything is fine, but at least for skiing (alpine, nordic or biathlon) World cups, they are usually just normal start bibs with photo marking.
PS: Stairs? You must be joking :) There's nothing which could compare with going up to top of 200m ski jumping hill... walking! Those stairs are really something.

If I am not to terribly mistaken, at Barber Motorsports Park the Pro Photographers had to not only wear a green vest but also a white jump suit, that had tight cuffs at the bottom. It was 90+ out that weekend.
