View Full Version : Is this a Leaf Hopper? Unknown to me

Was out trying to get some shots as the light was setting, when I stumbled upon this guy. Very cool colours, and I have not seen him before. It looks like some sort of fly or hopper...

Any ideas, comments and C&C welcome!

Hiya Parm,
Wow that's a cool looking dude, I've had a rummage & it seems to be a Red-banded leaf hopper, Graphocephala coccinea, don't take my word for it though.

Thanks to all that have comments.

Mark, thanks for taking to time to try and find out what it is. I was looking for Flys or Bees, and this guy was just sitting in the leaf, and was very co-operative to allow me to get close enough for the shot.
