what is ImageReady? from fiddling with it, it just seems like it's a cut-down version of CS2. I cant see what the point of it is. Anyone care to enlighten me?

I dont do that much in Photoshop:

Open image
Curves
Saturation
Hi-Pass Sharpen
Save a copy
Resize
Add Border
Save For Web

Can I do that in imageready and will it be quicker or something?

I use Image Ready to save my shots for web. This allows me to keep the EXIF embedded in the file. Save For Web uses Image Ready to save the file but strips EXIF. Other than that I don't know of it other uses.

Ever wonder how those animated GIF files are made? Stack a bunch of images which you want to animate into layers in PS, and then edit them in IR to animate them. :)

But IR is basically for working with images for web use. You can slice and dice images and assign each one as a hot-point for linking to other pages, etc.

You can even create a whole web page using IR and nothing else.
