I'm sure someone makes such a thing, but until you find it, you can buy protectors for PDA screens at almost any office supply. You'll have to cut them down to size, but I'm sure they'll work just fine.

You'll find what you need here.

Here's the 10D page

I have use the flexible peel 'n stick for my G2 and Sony Video. Don't know anything about the one they have for the 10D. Check their sizing chart for the thin peel 'n stick packs.

They also have small sunlight deflectors. I have used the LCD screen covers on my G2 as well as the sunlight cover and laptop cover. Good company.

FYI,

I ordered the protector from hoodman 5 weeks ago. I was told it was on backorder and haven't heard from them since.

I, too, have had good luck with the PDA protectors.

The cheap choice is self-stick laminating sheets. easy to cut one to fit and when you scratch it all up just stick on another. PDA protectors are probably more "optically correct" just make sure you buy one that fits a color PDA.

I just used the PDA covers cut down to size and it seems to work fine. I read some where that it's easy to pop the LCD display off with a suction cup and the replacements are really cheep, I think as little as that cover was. I'm sorry I can't remember where I read that. If anyone has a link to that info, please repost it. If that would be the case, I would rather just go bare and not even worry about it. I have a spec of dust behind it as well I would like to remove.

I have heard that a replacement stock LCD cover costs around $8.00. Check with Canon.

In the meantime, check out http://www.daproducts.com.

You want the 'da Oly Protector. The cost is $6.00 US.

It is a solid, clear acrylic protector that attaches to the LCD with 2 strips of "perm-a-stik" adhesive. If you are like me, the idea of a permanent adhesive scared me. But 'da Products assured me that one can break the adhesive seal and remove the protector by sliding a piece of dental floss between the protector and LCD.

The 'da Oly provides significantly more protection than flexible covers. The only problem is there is a very, very thin gap between the protector and the LCD which means dust can accumulate between the two, but I have found I can remove this dust with a combination of a strong blower brush (don't use compressed air!!) and by sliding a piece of paper in between the protector and LCD and pulling it through a few times.

I have been using the Oly protector for about 9 months now and it works great but...

I seem to have gone awhile whithout cleaning the small space/gap between the protector and LCD. I removed the protector to clean the LCD and unfurtunately I have a spot that I cannot seem to get out of the LCD. It's annoying but bareable. A regularly cleaning should resolve this potential misfortune.

That being said, it fits perfectly on my 10D, is 100% transparent and stays on tight (7 months and still going). Much better than a plastic film protector and cheaper in the long run.

I have been covering my LCD, however, I don't know why if it only cost $8 to replace. Am I missing something here? Why would I need to even mess spending $6 on this other cover to esentially protect the LCD protector (other then double insurance I guess)?? I can just imagine 2 years down the road when this camera is worn out every where except the LCD (LOL).

When I first got my D60 I bought a sheet of the PDA protectors for $12 and then custom cut it to fit the D60's LCD. I never did like the looks of it. It effected the view on the LCD so much I removed it a short time later. Especially after finding out the new LCD cover from Canon was $10 and can be changed in a matter of seconds.

Incidentally, both my D60 and 10D LCDs are still in perfect shape. D60 in 13 months old, 10D is 6 months old.

I tried the Oly protector thing - it's rubbish. As stated above the gap at the top lets in all sorts of rubbish and requires regular cleaning, and soon accumulates bits you can't get out so you risk scratching the lcd trying to clean it!

It also makes viewing the screen difficult at some angles in some lighting conditions.

Just leave your LCD uncovered, my D60 has had over a year of hard use with many knocks and there is just one minor scratch on the top LCD, not the back one.

I remember an earlier discussion dealing indirectly with this subject, and it had to do with whether or not it was injurious to the camera to lay it on its back. Actually, the LCD screen doesn't contact the surface in that position anyway, but with the eyepiece extender installed, it doesn't even come close. Chances are, we do more damage to the LCD screen by cleaning it.

I'm not aware of any compelling arguments for using a screen protection device.
