I could use a little help with viewing images once uploaded from Rebel digital. I'm using the zoom browser function. When I open and select an image from the folder, the image is viewable with good resolution for about 15 seconds (as it opens ), yet the image size is about 5 times larger than the screen (as it opens), and then when it's done opening the picture shrinks down to about a 5x7 and looks really bad (grainy).
What to do ?
Thanks
Jeff

What to do?
Get a better browser of course!
I like ACDSee. It seems to do a good job and the free download only has a nag screen. (I did buy the full version)
Others may offere their favorites.

I don't use ZoomBrowser, but I do notice that it shrinks images to fit in its window. I opened two different pictures at random, and one opened at 22%, and the other at 18%. What puzzling about your situation is that you said your pictures were 'grainy.'
Anyway, I suspect your images are being opened at 100% and then re-sized for your monitor. If the smaller pictures are really poor quality, you might have a graphics card problem. I'm not sure a different browser is going to help if your hardware isn't up to the job.
Maybe you could tell us a little about your monitor/graphics card, etc..

Before getting another browser,. lets eliminate the graphics card as the source fo the problem by making sure that you can view images on your PC without any problems.
Open one of your jpegs with Photoshop Elements and view the image. Scale the image to 100% (it will then be much bigger than your screen) then scale it to about 20%
Does that look any better?
If so then don't worry about your graphics card.
Two more things;
Do you know what graphics card you have?
And ,.. ACDSee is a great file viewer. Really top notch, I've used it for ten years or so.
You may want to invest in it, or Breezebrowser which will scrifice some of ACDsee ease of use but will offer soe great tools for working with your RAW files.

OK Great..!
That worked fine. I had no problem opening it in the Elements software and resizing a pic. It kept good res.
In ZoomBrouser it does appear to be opening to a huge size ( much bigger than my screan, what sections I see look fine) but then as it finishes resizing down to a viewable screenshot, somthing quirky happens.
Is there a format size control I could tinker with in the zoombrowser ?
