I'm traveling to Peru, which I hear that there is a lot of theft. Of course, there's theft in many places including where I live. I have two cameras.. canon 350D, and the sd700 is. Taking a poll from camera lovers who have traveled a bit..would you bring both cameras?
I'm am bringing the sd700, but debating about the 350D even though I LOVE the pictures. Not sure I want to lug it around... just out of curiousity and fun which one would you bring, or both??...:)

What's the point in having it if you don't use it? I'd only leave behind an SLR if weight was a major consideration.

Can not advise which to take, but can give you some advice.......there were 5 of us walking down the main "walking" street in Lima on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Of the 5 of us, I was the only one that was not robbed, and that is because I left absolutely everything of value in the hotel's safe. The view if travelling there is "if you are willing to lose it, then by all means, take it with you". One of the guys with me had his gold chain ripped from around his neck, another lost his watch, another his wallet and the 4th had his camera snatched right out of this hand.
Just like any other place in the world, be aware of your surroundings and guard your valuables.

Thanks for the feedback! I think I figured it out. In Lima and Cusco, I will leave my 350D and lenses locked in the safe and carry my little SD700. When we're in Machu Picchu and Manu, I will bring out my 350D and lenses. I hear that Lima is the worse. We are only staying there a very short amount of time and focusing on the Amazon. And, maybe there will be times that I won't carry anything at all and just enjoy the trip. I would love to hear from others who have traveled to Peru...
