I'm moving up to an S3 from our venerable S40. Got the LensMate adapter and a UV and a couple of other doo-dads. I was thinking about getting a polarizer, then I remembered I had a couple for my Pentax SF1n SLR.

Good news, I had a 52mm circular polarizer off one of my Sigma lenses. The brand is PROMASTER SPECTRUM 7 (made in Japan). I've had it for at least 20 years and I can't remember what I paid for it. I know I bought it from Central Camera in Indy, as they were the local pro shop at the time.

Did a quick search and couldn't find anything on Promaster filters. Any good? Junk?

It's certainly worth a try... the price is right! Promaster would likely be a brand used by some stores as a house brand, and/or a marketeer that buys stock from a manufacturer and puts their brand on it. There are still some lenses and flashes out there with the Promaster name on them (if it's the same company after 20+ years). Very possible it's a decent filter, but probably not top-of-the-line, from a name-brand maker. Hard to tell after all this time what the lineage is... like I said, try it -- if you like the results, done deal.
