I'm taking a photography course through my school for the heck of it to try my hand at traditional developing and darkroom technique. I'm quite experienced with the digital end, but haven't really used film cameras and feel it would be a worthwhile experience.

I'm trying to find a camera that is comperable to the 10D but which uses film. My gut tells me I'd have the least trouble alternating between the Canon Elan 7 and my 10D as most of the features seem similar. Do you think the controls would be intuitive to an avid 10D user?

Yes!
I use that combo and the controls are very similar.
The elan 7 in a very good camera and it is built in much the same way as a 10D - slightly smaller but not much.

Yes the Elan7 is a good choice also as a cheaper way is find A Elan II, Ive been taking classes for the past year and that's what I use for B&W and E-6 film.

Speaking about taking classes - I'd like to improve my skills - Does anybody know of a school in the North East Part of New Jersey (Livingston). I'm waiting for some info from NYPI. Don't know how effective they are or how much.

Thought about some private lessons -- but I think I would prefer a group setting. Also am considering local colleges -- took a B&W course in College -- but 15 weeks of instruction is too much time away from family.

Any suggestions are appreciated
