Dallas Tx., just recently got some snow that actually stuck to the ground! We don't get much of that around here but I was wondering if anyone has used their D30 in cold tempatures very much and what if any problems they encountered?
I know they say battery life is much shorter. I was wondering how the LCD screen and other camera functions worked in cold weather.

Hi,
I live in Sweden and Christmas-time we had -20 celsius and I had no problems with my D30. I work alot outside and wintertime is mostly cold here. At the moment it looks more like october och november, not so cold. The battery works well, I´ve got the extra grip wÃ*th two batteries.

DARRYL:
There were some posts by a photographer from Germany a few weeks ago. I went to his site where he had quite a few winter shots. I asked whether he shared Canon's concerns about the cold, and he said "...no -- the G2 was tough...".
Here in Canada since Xmas (G2 day) it has been running +5C to -15 C. I only took the G2 out one morning. (Gerry is right -- it was cold.) I took my gloves off "to do some stitching" and the fingers got stiff after a while! Also, I found it harder to see the screen than I expected. The 10 am sun was bright and this was my first outdoor session. I got a few "fair" shots.
I put the camera in a plastic freezer bag as suggested. Everything seemed OK. owever, once, just before I ended my session, I stressed out a bit when the lens did not want to retract. So, I turned it on & off and it was Ok. Finally, on my last "stitch" the G2 started beeping like mad.... 20 seconds later I realized that I had filled the last of my 32 little Megs.
