PhotoShop should be able to display the EXIF information (which you want), which is embedded in the picture as it's downloaded from the camera. If you re-save the picture in any otehr format you may sacrifice the EXIF data.

You can also get Exif information in Paint Shop Pro and IrfanView and the most obvious place is ZoomBrowser, the Canon program that came with your camera.

IF you do that, it should still be in the photo for PhotoShop to find.

Any EXIF reader software should serve your purpose to a good extent till you have the original image form. You shall get the information even after editing and saving in the jpg/jpeg form in many cases.

If you are using Windows XP, after you download from your card reader to a folder, simply right click on the file name and choose PROPERTIES. Then click SUMMARY and then the ADVACNED button if necessary. EXIF info should be displayed. Not sure if this feature was in earlier Windows OS's.

Which version of Photoshop are you currently using? Is it Photoshop Elements 4.0 or Photoshop CS? If it's elements, for version 4.0, you need to ensure that the "Properties" window is showing (can be found under the "Window" menu in the Organizer. Then in the Properties window you will see "Metadata", if you click on this it will show you all the EXIF properties of the picture.
