Thanks for the link, but I have seen this site, the only dealer is in NSW (Sydney) I am really hoping to find somewhere in Perth, so I can try before I buy :)

I know its corny to talk like this, mate, but I don't correspond often to folks down under, so I can't help myself. I just recently bought an LCD viewer for my Canon G3 from a company called PhotoSolve, which is located somewhere in California. The product is made of anodized aluminum, and is very helpful in taking pics outside. It attaches by velcro to the LCD viewer and the piece itself, so it easily detaches when you want it off. The cost is around $30.00 U.S., so expense is also reasonable. If you're interested, get back to me, and I'll take a couple of shots of my unit and show you how it looks & fits.....Ciao, Stephen Hill (MackRoe)

Gday, Stephen, I had a look on the PhotoSolve site and it looks interesting, I hadn't come across this one before, do you attach it with the velcro or with the Xtend-a-Mount Omni ? it is looking more and more like I will have to get something off the net, they say that Perth is the most isolated city in the world !! and I am starting to feel it !! ;)

Ray.....The unit attaches very well with the velco kit that comes with it, even though I ordered the Omni-mount thing also, but I'm going to return it since the velcro does the trick. I took a few shots of it and I may try and attach them to this post if I can figure out how to do it. I'm pretty much a newby to this forum, but I really am finding it to be a valuable source for info on the G3 and digital photography in general. If you know how you post photos on this forum, gimme a shout back, mate, and I'll flip a picture or two at you so you can see what it looks like.

Thanks Stephen, I don't know how to attach pics here, but if you want to email a couple , that would be great, just another question, can you fully close the LCD with the viewer attached ? cheers mate, -(rayw1@iinet.net.au )

Check this link to the homemade shade I did earlier this year for my G-1. Should be a similar configuration for your camera.

Not as pretty as the others, however, much cheaper and it folds flat to carry when not using.
Have fun
