View Full Version : Why does 'Save for Web' wash out my JPG colors?

I noticed that when I use "Save for Web", the color in my images is pretty severely affected, and I'm wondering why...it doesn't seem to do much with the 'Quality' setting either...I've tried jacking the save for web quality up to 100, but it only helped a little. The colors in the web images are just much less bright...I was just curious why this was.

It is because you are shooting and/or editing in AdobeRGB and Save For Web saves in the web based colorspace of sRGB

In a nutshell, try this to fix the color problem: After you're finished post-processing your image. Merge all layers to flat. Then go to EDIT and choose "Covert to Profile". Then choose your sRGB option and choose "OK". Then File and "Save for Web" as you normally would.
That's the fix in a nutshell. One caveat though, I am not sure you have to merge the layers to flat, but I do. Then depending on how I want to save the .tiff file I will undo the sRGB conversion and merging of layers to save it.
