View Full Version : Delay problem with Ixus v3 (or Powershot S230)

I have noticed for some time that almost every photo I took with my IXUS v3 (aka Powershot S230) was blurred. I tried to change all the config settings without success. But now I have realized that the problem is that the time passed since I press the button and the camera actually takes the photo has been delayed to about 2 or 3 seconds, so the photo is taken when I think it has finished. That didn't happen before.

Is there a way to fix it?

PD. I'm not referring to the delay of the self-timer, but to the actual time of normal photos.

These all are symptoms of insufficient light. Are you shooting at night or indoors with poor lighting and no flash?

Hi adas, it seems like you are right. Most photographs I try are in dark condition. I have tried now with more light and the speed improves significantly. Thank you very much.

Anyway, is that a problem only of this camera or is a general issue? Could I take photos in the dark without suffering that delay?

Thanks again for your help.

Leave Auto and go Manual mode.
Then either use a short shutter speed along with flash {up the ISO if subject is farther}.
Or if you shoot nightscapes, buy a tripod and mount the camera on it. Use shutter times up to 15sec without flash and selftimer on. (For the shutter times longer than 1s, the delay will be doubled, as the noise reduction procedure take place, so for an exposure of 15s you'll get a delay of 30s).

Thank you very much, adas.
