Does anyone have recommendations for managing charged vs. depleted batteries in your camera bag? I currently use a rubber band around the charged ones, but wondered if others had better methods.

Thanks,

I have three batteries...

I scratched a small I, II, and III on the back.

I use the I. Then the II, then the III, then back to the I again.... This way they all get cycled evenly.

The rubber band is a nice idea...

I have been using two pockets... one contains only charged batteries.. and the dead ones go in a different compartment/pocket on my bag.

Same deal with memory cards.

I've done similar, simply written 1, 2 and 3 on a battery and I cycle them.

Actually done the same with my CF cards.

Cheers

Ditto,
Same here I cycle thru the batteries every charge I & II.

I used a Sharpie to "color" the edge of my battery caps, when they are charged, I put the Black edge toward the contacts, when they are depleted, I put the cap on with the black edge away from the contacts.
I do like the method of numbering the batteries, so they get cycled evenly.

I prefer to have a battery meter attached to each to show instant read-out, status etc.

I use a BP 511 to provide power to each meter.

I also number my batteries.
I use the stick on numbers which come with some better quality video tapes. Nice touch.

I also number my flashes and battery grips for my film cameras. I have 2 identical 7E film cameras. That way when I have a problem with one unit, I can quickly identify the culprit without resorting to serial numbers.

I too number my three batteries and rotate through them.

Since we are on batteries, and winter is virtually here, a word of caution. I live in the Great White North where a few hours of shooting in cold temperatures will a kill batteries quickly. So, I keep the next battery in sequence in a shirt pocket, ready and warm.

As you can imagine any batteries kept in your backpack will be very cold and already down to 70%.

I also use a dedicated pocket or compartment in the camera bag for fresh and used batteries and mem cards. Whatever works.
