The professional chuckwagon races are in town. I got a press pass to shoot this, and it was quite boring. Except for one incident, which I will write about as a wee story in the photos...
By the way, I wasn't too pleased with the way the colour versions turned out. So, I converted them all to black and white and was much happier.
1. These horses are psychotic.

2. And of course, I tried to get a little creative with some panning.

3. At one point, these horses got freaked out before the heat began. Something spooked them and they charged towards the crowd. There was a brittle wooden railing bordering the track (which I was sitting underneath) and then a chain link fence a couple of meters beyond that separating the spectators. Luckily, the horses veered away and the only damage done was a support beam on the railing taken out by a wagon wheel. This all happened just meters away from me and I jumped out of the way just in time. Unfortunately I was fearing for my life and couldn't get a shot of the impact, which would have made quite a spectacular shot!

4. The horses then ran two laps of the track before the cowboys could finally get them under control...

I don't really like horses much anyways, so probably won't be returning to the track any time soon. I find it to be quite boring :)
