Yes, resizing the pics in batch with another program on your computer and after that you can upload the images and build your gallery in the admin section of EE.
The same for me, I have a server without Imagick and the ftp-module for PHP.

He asked about exif... not image magick.. image magick does the resizing... Exif has nothing to do with that... Exif is for camera/lens/time/date location so that it can be auto filled in the gallery.
there is no alternative way... your server admin has to install EXIF modules on your site.. email them and ask them... Or call them.

Same question here: if the photos are already in EE, can we still extract EXIF data out of the photos without re-upload everything? Reuploading would change all the photo number.

Try: graphics modules > select (EXIF internal) and do the test. If it works turn on the internal module.

I did that: the test and turned on the internal module. But that does not automatically redo all your "EXISTING PHOTOS" in EE which previous did not get EXIF info extracted.

Reading EXIF to an existing photo is there in EE 2.0. It is a tool in photo editor which lets you upload a photo (other methods will be done) and it is read by EE photodata system. Then you can pick which items you want to import to the photo.

Thank you. Look forward to the version 2.0.
