I said I would post some pictures other than the Ferrari from this last weekend. There was a mixture of classic cars and among them were some that should never have been used for racing, some that were simply ugly and a few that were very good indeed. Here is my mixture from CSCC meeting at Oulton Park.

This Ford Fairlane was designed to go down straight highways, not round bends. It didn't manage to finish the race - surprise, surprise:

I don't know what they had been smoking when they designed this Corvette, but it is ugly, even for 1958 (I suppose someone loves it). It was a very bad day for old American tin, this one didn't finish either:

This lovely 1962 D Type was driven by Thornton Mustard (no kidding), and I nearly said "with relish", but I restrained myself. As you may gather he did win the race. Oh, for Oulton Park regulars, can you guess where I took this shot from:

Lotus do make very attractive cars and this Exige in that colour is just stunning. Driven to a fine win by Steve Taylor:

Not often you see such a well turned out Sunbeam Imp:

Or a Marcos GT:

Fastest cars of the day were the Jedi. They are not far short of the performance of an F3 car and powered by motorcyle engines:

Anglesey for two days next weekend. Prayer mat out for good weather as I have never had a dry day at Anglesey yet.

nice Ken

I actually like the look of the old Corvette, but know it's a rubbish old crapper :D

as for your Pop Quiz, no idea! Only been to Oulton once :( but love your shot of the D.

I'll have a stab at 1/2 way down the straight between Lakeside and Island... :)

Great shots as always Ken, esp like that Marcos.

I too like the old 'vette although it is more hot rod than sports car.
Great capture of the Fairlane on two wheels. It really does belong on the boulevard rather than the track.
My favorite of course is the Jaguar.

Superb shots as always , the D type is particularly gorgeous , I'm a bit curious as to the Sunbeam imp though , surely its a spitfire with a modded nose ?

Outstanding pics as usual Ken,

I was there also on Sat (will try post a few later) but had to leave as the Jedi were racing.

Had an interesteng moment as a big XJ half spun on exit of old hall, looked like heading straight for me but hit hard about 10m down the barrier then drove off with v little damage.

As for your quiz q, I would say by lakeside but more on the exit of Casscades as the cars straighten out?

Great shots, are Formula Jedi cars really on par with F3 cars? What was the racing like?

Peacock: I agree, it's a Triumph Spitfire with a nosejob alright. Looks nothing like an Imp which has a very boxy look to it E.G: http://www.impwerks.co.nz/imp%20graphics/sale/Sunbeam%20Imp%20Sport.jpg

I have checked up and this is a much modified Spitfire that is currently on the TR register. Strange how all the paperwork has it incorrectly listed for the race, even the results documentation. Ah well.

The D-Type shot was taken 20ft to the Cascades side of the Lakeside Marshals post. It is a view you rarely see in print or on the web.
