Looks like he is holding his breath in, but great pose of the bird.
Nice details in this shot. Colour is perfect for the chaffinch, well done on a very good quality shot.

Thank you Tony. Don`t know why it is but lots of birds seem to have the ability to puff themselves up.

I find the Chaffinch really difficult to shoot. There's lots of them in my area and the regularly come to feed underneath our feeders (by a hedgeroe under trees). They seem to be more aware and very skittish compared to all the other birds. They will come to the tree and very warilly land but as soon as my lens moves or the shutter clicks they are gone while everyone else stuffs their faces. Camo and hides don't make a difference. I guess being a ground feeder makes them skittish.

Has anyone hese seen the commercial of the chicken at the plastic surgeon's getting breast implants? I think this little guy went to the same doctor ;)
Cute picture, I love the color on his/her chest. Good thing too, since there is so much of it ;). Great shot, Snappa! Handheld?

Thank you Joe, Reyno, Fee and Bea for the kind comments.
Bea, Yes it is a he. The female falls, unfortunately, in to the little brown bird category with just a bit of colour on the wings. And yes it is handheld as I cannot use a tripod.
