Optical Viewfinder in bright sun, too dark to see clearly

I really like my S2, better than my old G1. The trouble is that while taking pictures in the bright sun with the Optical viewfinder it is difficult to see the images clearly due to the darkness of the viewfinder display. Any ideas if this can be adjusted?

Since I use reading glasses the LCD is not a practical answer.

I know what you mean. I tried a S2IS...had to throw a towel over my head to use the thing in bright sun. Felt like Frontier Photographer !

all I can say is that you get used to it in time. I hated it at first. And I wear trifocals, and have macular degeneration in one eye.
