Hi
I've just received the Digital Rebel - Wow!
How do I set the camera to use fill-in flash?
Thanks

In the manual, page 80, middle of the page.

I assume that you are speaking of shooting in daylight, perhaps with big shadows, and wanting the flash to fill in some of those shadows.

When I do it, I just let the meter read the scene and let it expose normally. However, I turn the flash on and just let it do its thing. All it will do is to fill in some portion of the shadows, which is about what I want.

If I want more than a portion filled, then I meter and shoot as if it is a straight flash shot. If I want only a tiny portion filled, then I switch off the big flash and shoot with the little dinky built-in flash, since it has a much lower guide number.

My standard problem is this: bride in white gown, groom in tuxedo, bright sunny day, deep shade of trees. I want to TRY to get the exposure right for the white and the black and also not have the sky blown out. It is not that simple.
