View Full Version : POTN Fantasy Football (Soccer) Leauge - IT'S FREE

OK so I'm over excited about Liverpool beating Chelski yesterday and the advent of the new football season - I admit it!
So I've set up a POTN Fantasy Football league that anyone can join. It is based on the English Premier League and works like all those other fantasy games.
THIS IS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE - no registration fee or anything like that and I thought it might be a bit of fun.
If you want to register a team CLICK HERE (http://fantasy.premierleague.com)
Once you have logged in and entered your team, click on the 'Leagues' link you can find on the the right of the page. Now enter the code 105185-86040 to join the POTN Fantasy Football league.
At the end of the season the overall winner will have the honour of being the POTN Fantasy Football Manager of the Year and I am sure we can think of some sort of prize.
Have a go!

My only visit to Plymouth (for a football match) was way back in 83/84 when I was a Barking supporter... Barking were a couple of minutes away from taking Argyle back to Mayesbrook Park for a replay when Tommy Tynan (I'm pretty sure it was Tynan) converted a corner for a 2-1 win... of course, it turned out to be Plymouth's most successful season in the competition!

The Premier League season starts on the weekend. So the players you selected will start gaining (or losing) poitns for you from then. On Monday the site is updated and we will see who has scored the most points.
Repeat this process for every game of the season! :)

So when I signed up my ream, there was a dollar value attached to the players. I picked the names I recognized and went into the negative numbers. I REdid my team so that the value would be 0.0 (I let the computer pick the team, too much math between patients).
What happens if you go past the dollar amount you are given?

You will only be allowed to 'buy' a team of players up to the value of 100 (million pounds). If your spending money exceeds 100m, then you will not be able to buy the last player(s) who's prices caused you to go over your 100m max.
Hope this helps...

no all teams in the league will play a full 38 games a season.
There fixtures will have been re-arranged for another date. later on in the season. Thanks for the clarification Andy. I used to follow EPL until 1996 when i came to the US. So, now i'm back to square 1 and start all over again. :)
Strategically, in my FFL team it would be wise to temporarily take out players from Arsenal, Liverpool, Wigan and Newcastle since they won't play in Gameweek 2, right? :o

It does make sense if you have players (substitutes) that you can put in and who have games when those you named aren't playing. But don't make tranfers because you will be deducted poitns. Transfers should only be made when you reall y have to.

Only saw the point deduction message after my lighting-quick-shutter-finger tabbed on the "okay" button ...
Bummer!

Bummer!LOL! Same here but luckily i just made two transfers, instead of 3.
Hey, it's all worth it if at least 1 of your 3 transfers makes 8 points in this gameweek.;) Watch out for Cahill.

did you know you can use wild card to prevent point deduction? You can use it once a season, I think. I'm considering using it next week.

I was playing with the lineup and made more 1 transaction. Then click "Make transfer". If I remember it correctly, it said I made more than 1 trans and there are points deduction. It asked me if I want to use wildcard to avoid that. I don't remember the detail though. I guess I'll let you know in a few days after I make my changes :D

Andy supports Everton (the other team in the city of Liverpool - although far far less successful and well known as Liverpool) so he is joking with you.

Just made a few transfers using wildcard.
After you click "make transfer", a new page will be brought up and there will be 4 buttons on the right side. Then, you can select use wildcard and then confirm the transfer.

".... All transfers made in the Gameweek your wild card is played will be without points deduction."
Does it mean, if i intend to make 5 transfers today (which is effective in Gameweek 3) and select "Play Wild Card", instead of sacrificing 16 points, i won't be deducted any point when Gameweek 3 start? Is that it?

I believe so. I just made 4 or 5 transactions but didn't notice any point deduction.

As long it did not ask you to confirm the deduction when you made the transfer, i think you are safe. Thanks for the info, and good luck with your new squad members.;)

There have only been a handful of games so far with 37 weeks left.Due to my lack of EPL knowledge and this is my first FFL, i have accidentally chosen a bunch of injured horses, and some inexperienced players who got benched alot :p. So i need some adjustment in order to start generating points. I hope that's a good strategy.

I thought I had to use 4-4-2 formation. So, I spent more $$$ than I should on defense player. I had to do a drastic change to keep my squard within budget.

after 3 years of FFL (and i still suck!), the one thing i learn is to invest in good defenders, cos otherwise, they're gonna cost ya! and i almost always play w 3 at the back...
but hey, im at the bottom of the pile at the moment, so what do i know!

I'm not going cheap on defenders but decide to get 3 decent and 1 ok defenders and 1 fillers because I play 3 defenders. So, I'll have a little more funding for my midfilders.
