Hi,

Not sure if this thread should appear under this category or the other. I resized/edited my photos using Photoshop and subsequently uploaded them to the Internet. However, what was displayed on the web page wasn't the same as what I saw on my PC. The sharpness is far gone, the color is not as rich as what I saw on the PC using Photoshop or Windows Picture and Fax Viewer.

Any reason why this is happenning? Is there something I must set on the Photoshop when I save the file?

Your advise will be deeply appreciated.

Here are the example :

Unsharp mask is a must. Depending on how small you make the new size, some contrast and color correction will need to be applied. Finally, use the "Save for the web" and "high optimized JPG" command in PS.

If you're new to post processing, sizing and color correction, I suggest using the "Convert and Save" feature from Canon's DPP to resize and change the resolution. You can choose TIF or JPG (10) and save the image from there. Then open PS and resave this version "for the web" the same way as stated above. This will give you the best results for now without all the post processing. Simply use DPP's RAW editing to sharpen or adjust WB, exposure and color.

Hope that helps...

Hi Amonline,

Thanks for the suggestion I didn't do any post processing for this gallery except resizing because these are test shots for the EF 24-105mm F4L lens. It's for people who want to evaluate the lens quality. It's very sharp and the contrast is very good when view on PC. Once uploaded, it doesn't looks the same anymore from the Internet Browser.

I will try your suggestion on the "Save for the web" and "high optimized JPG" command in PS.

Thanks

Once uploaded, it doesn't looks the same anymore from the Internet Browser.

The browser may be set to "compress" the graphics... keep that in mind. As long as you check the image out in a preview (not PS) on your desktop and like what you see, most of the world will see that too... except those AOL people that don't know any better about graphic compressing settings. That's AOL's answer to speed.

I took another look at the images you are talking about and they seem normal (for someone new to post/web processing) to me... but soft like you said... I do think you need to jump into the unshard masking in PS and/or saving from DPP like I suggested.

Good luck!

Did you shoot in AdobeRGB?? If so, then convert to RGB before upload. If you don't, then you'll get washed out colors, etc.
