Hi all, I spent most of the day on Sunday at Shobdon (EGBS) at the Royal Aero Club's Kings Cup Air Race.
For those who don't know, it is a handicap air race, where the faster aircraft takeoff later than the slower ones. Hopefully, if they've done the calculations properly, all of the aircraft arrive at the finish line at the same time. This year the fastest aircraft, a Beech Baron, started 25 minutes after the slowest, a Ralleye 892.
The weather was starting to threaten getting a bit wet, but thankfully, it stayed dry til the end.
On with the photos.
Yak 18 parked outside one of the hangars.

Sat behind the clubhouse was this sad looking Cessna, looking rather sorry for itself.

This tiger moth departed just before the airfield closed for the race.

No22, an RV-7 waiting for it's pilot.

Finally into the air. I was able to find a spot on the inside of the airfield turn with the "sun" behind me and the racers turning toward me.
