I recently aquired my 16-35 f/2.8L and love this lens. However for the price I paid, I dont want to take a chance of hurting this baby. I was wondering if putting on a uv filter would hurt its sharpness. If it wouldn't, my next question is should I buy Canon's Haze UV for 29.95 or Tiffen's UV Glass wide angle thin filter ring for 39.95?
Thank You

reittila,
In your opinion what would you do as far as a filter goes? If I should get one, which kind do you think I should get?
Thank You

clkgtr37:
When speaking about wide angles in order to minimize optical problems the glass of the filter should as thin as possible. Normally the manufacturers don't categorize their filters by the thickness. Stay with known high quality filters like Schneider (B&W), Canon etc.
I personally don't use a UV filter with my 16-35L unless the circumstances are exeptionally risky for the lens it self.
