So, per the sticky above, the 4GB cards are non-compliant. Can someone say what the best SD card is for the S3 IS? It's a newer camera, so maybe it is compatible with the SD HC format?

I'm looking at Newegg.com -- they have the Ritek 4GB card for $65.99.

thanks!

I use a Sandisk Ultra 2 1 gig card with my S2 with no problem.

I use the SD Elite 50x Pro 2GB Kingston memory card with my S3, and it works very well. I purchased it from Costco online (on sale) for $65. It is high speed, and keeps up well for movies. I just checked and the current price at Costco online site is now $44.95 plus shipping.

We own two 4GB cards that we have been using with our S3 IS. They work very nicely and we have never had any problems.
I also have a third 4GB coming from TigerDirect, I am anxious to see if it works. That will mark 3 x 4GB SD cards they work flawlessly with the Canon S3 IS so far.

Additionally we also have several 2GB cards and everyone one of these worked well with the S3 IS. The only thing left to test is an actual SD HC compliant card. There are none available to test so far.

Sandisk Ultra II 2GB would be best IMO. Thats all I use in my gear (the Ultra II line) and have never had one problem.

I am using the Kingston SD Ultimate 2Gb 120x cards in both my S2 and S3. 1000's of shots so far, without a problem.
