Some pictures from this weekend... most of my shots were taken with the bigma which I rented from rentcameragear.com. Monopod really helps with this lens. I only wish I had a 86mm polarizer with me!

Enjoy...

Definitely the 2nd one. Great action shot. What focal length was that shot at?.... the full 500mm?

Nice shots. I've considered the bigma a few times... looks like it does a pretty nice job. I like #3!

All the shots are impressive. You saw all of these in the wild? Including the mountain lion? Wow. Well done on all.

Very nice! I like number two. It makes you think if hes yawning, or growling. Glad to see some photos you got with lens. Again thanks for the nice write ups about RCG.

Thanks for the comments, everyone.

I rented the lens at rentcameragear.com. I'm a happy customer and will be returning in the future for my rental needs - fast shipping and great customer service! Check them out.:D

The animals are kept in outdoor enclosures so it's not totally wild, but it's a step up from the zoo. Long lenses are a must and the bigma fit the bill nicely.

Some specs:
First Pic (Elk): 500mm, F8, 1/640th sec, ISO 400
Second Pic (Wolf): 500mm, F8, 1/1000 sec, ISO 1600
Third Pic (Cougar): 500mm, F7.1, 1/250 sec, ISO 1600

Thanks again.

Very nice - you should blend 1 & 2 so the wolf is biting the elks backside and it is yelping! :)

Nice work... I was thinking of heading there some day. Theres a big Elk farm Near Kewanee that I was going to try and get photos of their big bull.

I have the Canon 100-400mm L IS now from rentcameragear.com The lens is awesome and the customer service is excellent. I Highly recommend renting from them!

fromthebleachers... what kinda press pass do you have, or is it a self-nominated one for owning L glass.

Love the eyes on the wolf.

I just bought a bigma and have yet to use it making real pics. You have inspired me!
