Hi all

Need your advice.

Recently, my 10D with 16-35 started to seized up on me with Err 99 messages intermittently. I had to switched off the camera and then start it up and it was fine until a few shots later. I changed CF and it happened again. Obviously it was not CF problem.

Later, I was shooting at another function. I remembered using the 28-70 and the same CF and it was fine.

Today, I was shooting again with 16-35 and it happened again. The Err 99 happens intermittently.

I suspect my 16-35L is damaged. How to prove it? I just tried shooting 60 pics with it and there was no problem..

Before anything else, I'd check the contacts on the lens to see if they're clean, loose, or misaligned. Since you're only having the problem with one lens, I'd call that an important clue.

It's a shame that error-99 covers such a range of problems; it really says little more than, 'Something's screwed up.' It just isn't all that useful.
