E28 error on Powershot S20

Today I got the E28 error on my Powershot S20.
When I switched the camera on to take a shot, the lens came out, but instantly went back in, showing 'E28' in the top screen.
I think the problem started after I cleaned the lens (gently, with a soft cloth!).
I allready read some messages about this on this forum. Does anybody have a real solution to this?

Hi,
I had the same problem with my OLD S20.

The first time I paid around 150 euros to see a maintenance sheet.It worked so....
A few Pictures later E28 again.no more money.
So i read about a guy and a S10 -E28....

Did the same as him (otherwise S20>>>trash)
i pulled quite hard on the second ring of the lenses,
while power-on
the little shining thing at the top fell, and it worked....
It is still in duty.

whoo! Today I got the same darn E28 on myS20.
it really helped to slap the camera-bottom against the palm of my hand! unbelievable.

Couple of years ago I had the same prob and I sent the camera to canon-service, which charged over 100euros for the fix...
