I've just started using my 10-D for shooting basketball games and have quickly realized that almost every single shot I take is backfocused. I've never had a problem with the focus with general photography, only when shooting the basketball games. I use center focus and AI Servo for the action.

I never had a problem like this when I used an old Kodak/Canon DCS-520. I'm sure some are occasionally my fault but it's obvious I have a problem with the focus on the camera.

How long roughly would my camera be away if I sent it to Canon for adjustment like many people have done?? If it's very long, I may not be able to send it right now. If so, does anyone have any suggestions how I can possibly make some adjustments on how to help compensate for this problem? Would using all seven focus points help or would using AI Focus make a difference?? Any help would be appreciated.

Before jumping off the cliff here you need to be sure that's really the problem. I started shooting soccer this year for the first time and found out how difficult it was compared to motorsports. It's much harder to focus in on the person you're trying to shoot using only center focus point. It results in lots of throwaway shots and I run into the same isues, though the majority of mine are correctly focused.

This time of year you won't see your camera back for awhile due to the holidays, so just be sure that's the problem before you send it off to the service center.

I have had two items in for repair at Canon. The first one took two times and three weeks at about this time of year. The second took three trips and a month.
