I have a 20d. When I download images to my computer, it automatically numbers the folders. Is there any way I can stop or change this?

That's the way the camera does it. Download using a card reader and free software called DIM from http://www.alanlight.com and it will copy the images to whatever directory you like, without folders.

In a word - No ....
The 20D (and some other Canon DSLR's) are set up to pack 100 file numbers in a folder. So, if you start shooting with the file # IMG_0079.jpg and you finish up with file # IMG_0310.jpg, you're going to wind up with 4 folders with these image #'s in each folder:
79-100
101-200
201-300
301-310
That's in the firmware and you don't have any control over it ....

The program that Tim gave you is good and very reliable. I use a program called downloader pro made by Breezebrowser. It is not free but very powerful wiht alot of options during the download process such as different folders, renaming, etc.

Another vote for Downloader Pro here. I sling in a card and tell it to run; I don't even have to worry about which camera the card's from; it reads that from the EXIF and files things accordingly.
