I'm not great at shooting birds - I've normally got all the lighting wrong, or the bird moves on me - funny how they do that!!
Anyway ... I got a shot, and well, I like it so I thought I'd share ;)

Great picture, hard to tell from the photo is a lesser sulfur cockatoo or greater sulfur cockatoo, i'm kind sure it's not a citrion cockatoo (spelling)
Either way pretty bird, yours?

Thanks :)
No, not mine, a wild one.
While we were away on holiday about 50 of them used to come to the balcony every morning and evening for a feed. We actually managed to hand feed a couple, but they do give nasty bites as my poor son found out.. hee heeee... :D

A nice portrait and composition, a little warm in a few spots but whites are often quite the challenge to expose as are blacks. Maybe try getting your shutter speed up to at least the focal length your shooting at and stopping your lens down a little to f8 or more to help with a sharper image. Don't be afraid to experiment with ISO and other settings. I'm fond of these intelligent parrots, well except when the swquark really loud as it goes right through you lol. Well done and keep trying

Beautiful bird with a powerful beak. Hope your son wasn't hurt too badly though :(
It must have been quite a sight having 50 of them fly around your balcony, and noisy too I suppose. Thanks for sharing :)

Wow! Thank you all for your lovely comments :)
Bea - don't worry, Zach was fine, and as he kept going back to feed them more and more and was bitten a couple of times, I'm sure it wasn't as bad as he made out at first ;) LOL
He actually managed to get one of them to sit on his arm a couple of times, so he was well chuffed :)
