Very nice, the color and contrast are great, and CDS are you on a budget now? I have never seen you post economy size birds before :D

I have taken the "Small bird" non-colorful shot a million times and just can't seem to make it interesting, but yours pops, nice shot!

beautiful picture cyber
was it taken with a long lens?
the little look of the bird seems to show that he knew you were on the lookout for a big brother type of birdie and not him but is happy enough that he was appreciated this way :D
I think its a little 'sparrow' in the treetop :)

its really nice

Hi CDS,

nice colors, is Chickadee some kind of a Sparrow?

Nice, CDS, Nice....

It seems to have lots in it to add interest without detracting for the Chicadee type birdie.

Very nice use of DOF to blur the background.

Sandy, RI, and BC,

Thanks for the nice words... yes this is my economy model,. I am cutting back for the cold winter months :D

Marie & Yason,
I think sparrow is indeed the correct term... since childhood I have called all these "little brown birdies" "Chickadees". I have since broadened my knowledge a trifle on some orders.... but the little tykes I admit to still being quite daft! :)

Howie, Martcol, and Scott,

Again thank you for the fine words. Clearly this was one of those "Ahh I'll take the shot anyways" situations, with little hope riding on the outcome. I was happy to see that once run through Adobe RAW converter there was something there of some interest.

I am more happy (and a bit surprised) to see the reponse here! I think I may need to find some more Chickadees this winter!!! :D

p.s. I don't have the exif here at work,. but I think this was the Sigma 70-200mm and not the 500mm?

Yason,

this is a "real" chickadee!

...and a great photo of one, far better than any of mine. :)
