View Full Version : Help Needed - 2 Cameras, 1 PC

I've just taken delivery of my new G3, which is now a big brother to my Ixus V2. I want both cameras to use the same PC for downloads, as we will still be using the V2.

Last night I tried installing the software for the G3, with the hope that the newer versions would overwrite what I already have on the PC. All was going fine until it came to Zoombrowser - then I got an error message and the installation came to an abrupt end.

I tried again - same problem.

I tried uninstalling the old version of Zoombrowser via the Canon programs listed in the Start menu (Win 98), but was told that the uninstall utility Isinst.exe (if my memory serves me right) was missing.

So I decided for the time being to live with both cameras on the old version. The V2 is still working fine. However, when I connect the cable to the G3, Zoombrowser opens up but then tells me that it cannot detect the camera.

Since the V2 is working, I'm presuming the TWAIN driver is OK. Does anybody have any idea what's going on? Is it not possible to have both cameras on the same PC?

Any help will be much appreciated.....

Thanks

Danny

PS - As a side note, if I were to pop the CF card from the G3 into the V2, could I then download the images, or would the file size exceed some limit on the V2?

You should be able to install them both seperatly. The product name would keep them from combining. Be carfull what you answer to questions.

To delete try going to your control panel add/remove program and remove from there.

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the installation figures out that I have already got Zoombrowser, and automatically goes for an update, rather than a separate installation.

As for removing the old version via the Control Panel, I tried that but got an error that the program no longer exists. I was then offered the option to remove it from the "Remove Program" list.

I wondering whether I shouldn't just go to the Canon directory where Zoombrowser is installed and just delete everything in site. Not the ideal way to uninstall, but maybe it will do the trick....

I would call Canon. You need to do that in safe mode. Canon can guide you, you might have shared files in the folder.

I had the same problem with both Powershot A30 and Canon G3. The former version having been erased the bad way, it could not then be uninstalled, and latest Zoombrowser rejected the install.
I had to make a full reinstall of the first software with the A30 CD, then to erase it the proper way through the configuration panel.
After that the latest Zoombrowser and Canon G3 soft worked immediately

Robert.

You're a star! Did exactly what you did, and all is finally working. Many thanks for all the help.
