This was the pilots view while flying in the B-17. I was not happy with the color quality so I tried a different look.

Hi guys,
Yes, I was very lucky. And no, they did not have sat nav back then.
I was wondering if anyone else was going to notice.

Awesome shot. Awesome plane. One of my favorites from WWII. Loved Memphis Belle. Rates right up there along with Tuskegee Airmen. Looking at the photo, it seems like German Ack Ack would be bursting in the air at any moment. Great image!

I met one of the Tuskegee Airmen last year. What a great guy, so full of energy and great character. I wish we had more Americans like him.
Here is another photo of the flight. This is one of the guns in the tail. What a rough ride in the tail.

johnthebaptist,
That was the first thing I noticed in the cockpit also being a former navigator in the Coast Guard.

was this part of an airshow? They just had a b-17 at the wings and wheels expo at teterboro airport this weekend. I got to see it fly over my house no more then a few hundred feet above. Such a sight to see.

It was on tour coming from Canada. They were here for a couple of days and were giving rides for a fee to help with constant upkeep of the aircraft. It was a great pleasure to fly in it.
