There is a lot of talk on FM about Canon's rumored release of 3 updated lenses at Photokina:

1)100-400 4L - improved IS
2) 35 1.8
3) 400 5.6 IS

Has anyone here heard about it, are these rumors credible?

I heard of the first one, but it's just a rumor. The second two don't interest me.
I've also heard repeatedly about a 50/1.2L.

Time will tell, of course. The 100-400 f/4L IS has the potential to be a real gem, but an expensive one.

The 100-400 4L would definitely interest me. I owned the current 100-400 version and I would really love to see this lens as a 2 ring zoom

Don't see the point of the 35/1.8. The others are needed. A cheaper 600/5.6L IS would be nice as well. Can't afford the f4IS. Or probably the 5.6 either........

If 35/1.8 is replacement for 35/2 with better build and usm it would make a hell of alot of sense. 35/2 is one of the oldest lenses Canon has in the lineup, optics are supposed to be very good, but old AFD motor just doesn't cut it. Not everyone can afford 35L.

Forgot the 35/2 is an old one. In that regard it makes sense.

Given Canons recent pricing though, bec areful what you wish for.

Exactly what I am thinking. The 400/5.6 could be a staggering $1.6K. Don't like to think about 100-400/4. Might result in a lot of the older 100-400 becoming available though, and I might consider swooping in on one if I can get a good price.
