10D Firmware 2.0.0 ???

Can anyone tell me IF it's OK to update the 10D direct from 1.0.0 to 2.0.0 (I never got around to update to 1.0.1).
ALSO; I remember reading that the file number resets back to the start - how do I get around to continue where it currently is??

I sure that it is OK to update the firmware directly to 2.0.0. Normally the 1.0.1 update is contained within the later one unless we are informed otherwise and have not seen any warnings about not doing it from Canon.
As for the file renumbering: mine just continued as before - no reset on my 10D. Perhaps we may have some more posts on this matter in the near future now I've stuck my neck out!

I also doubt there is going to be a problem going from 1.0 to 2.0.0, but wait to see if anyone else expresses an opinion.

If you insert the CF card that was last in the camera before you updated the firmware, the numbering system should pick up right where you left off. You probably should not re-format the card until you've made sure I'm right.

This is one reason not to swap CF cards between different Canon cameras because the count will always go to the highest number

The camera doesnt care what revision you put in it. It just does the update. I keep the old ones around too just in case there was the "Update from Hell" but so far Canon hasnt screwed that up!

I swap cards all the time. I even have files from two different Canon cameras on the same card. I havent seen any numbering discrepancies. Maybe this is a between camera brands thing.

I went directly from 1.0.0 to 2.0.0 without any problems so feel free to upgrade without the intermediary step.
