being only new to this list - I have flicked thru heaps of posts - and written a question myself recently - it unfortunately seems that this forum is either full of people that don't care about other peoples questions or people that just plain don't know.

Looks like its back to a real forum with people that actually care and are willing to share information - dpreview.com

I'm just curious why you left there in the first place.

And re your first (and only post save this one), your question was so vague that it's not surprising nobody answered you. You didn't say what software you were referring to nor did you mention the version number. I've never heard of any of the files you mentioned so the same may be true for a lot of other people on this forum who are otherwise very helpful.

Ask the right questions and with a little bit of patience on your part, you just may get the answer you're looking for. However, with your current attitude, all you'll get is a "Good riddance" response.

I have to agree with "eos-digital" that the members here aren't too keen on helping others...at least from my experience as well as searching around a little.

I needed some help this past weekend ( http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=20380 ) and received absolutely no help. My problem concerned a subject that someone was bound to either know the answer...or was one that someone could steer me in the right direction. And I did offer all the necessary information necessary!

PS - I looked around very quickly and found a number of threads where mostly new members were in need of some help but didn't recieve any...

I'll let you be the judge:

The people who post in the forums here to answer your questions are just volunteers who do this because they like to be of help to other people with the same hobby or profession. Nobody is getting paid to answer your questions, so you cannot expect to have a right or guarantee to get an answer to your questions.

If nobody has an answer for you, it's just too bad, but don't come here to complain. People are not obliged to post answers here.

As for all the questions being asked, well, I don't know the answers. If I did know the answer I would have posted a reply. I don't use ZoomBrowser so I couldn't help. Simple really.

It seems most of the questions people were not getting answers for related to software going wrong/user error.

Maybe using the support structure that is in place for these software products might have helped rather than posting here and then getting upset when no one understood or had the answer to your question.

I don't mind people posting questions and then when they don't get an answer post along the lines of "Help, I'm at my wits end". However, I take real offence when those same people then post that people on this forum "don't care about other peoples questions" (eos-digital) or that they "aren't too keen on helping others" (Kooter). How would you two know ? You only registered at the weekend so you obviously haven't been about too long.

I don't care if you are newbies or not. I will answer questions/help out if and when I can.

Your kind of attitude stinks and if I don't see another post from you again, well, I will not lose sleep.

Now that's a lousy attitude to come here and complain that no one helps you.
Perhaps no one knew the answer.

When you were a kid (or are you still one, difficult to know when reading you 'childish' complaints) and you got a ballon for free at some fair, did you also complain that you didn't like the color.
When somethings for free, take it or leave it, but don't complain if you don't like it. Just go ahead to the next.

I'm a member of this forum since july and I've learned so much here, and nearly everyone here has always been kind to anyone, may he be newbie or a pro.

As for you, Kooter, you found 6 threads with no answers to questions... so why don't you answer one of the questions yourself, so there'll be only 5 with no answer...?

never left the dpreview forum in the first place just thought this one was more relating directly to canon digital cameras and their software - as stated....

at least at dpreview the kind people who have the knowledge have the time and patience to cope with us mere morals and oh by the way they don't get paid either...

I'll tag along here - in the background - and will be glad to be of assistance to anyone I can answer - otherwise will point them in an appropriate direction to help....

What's the point of wasting time answering this post? Those of us who do commit time regularly to doing this should concentrate on what we know and can influence, rather than reply to a disgruntled user.
If nothing else, we should try to answer his/her questions. What do you think?
