Well I just got my big order from B&H. My wife took the 24-105 f/4L right away. She said it is a good girls lens, and I guess I have to agree with her. I just do not know which to use first. Grey, dreary day so kind of stuck inside. Perhaps tomorrow will be better.

When it is grey and dreary here, thats when the cats get chased around the house with the camera! :) What all did you get from B&H?

Tell us what you got and I'm sure we'll all have some good ideas of stuff to shoot. Alternatively you could always spend today reading the manuals.

Damn, dont buy all at once now. :-P Looks like you have a great setup going there. You could always play with the DOF of the 50 or take some portraits with the 24-105...if you can get it away from the wife. :)

You can photograph all your new items for your household inventory. If you don't have a photographic inventory of your household items you can start one.
That will keep you busy.

Well you wasn't joking about a big order. If I was you I'd read the camera manual today and make sure its set up as you want it and your familuar with all its functions. Also check all your new kit and make sure it's all working correctly. Then I'd go to the zoo tomorrow and get some practice with the longer glass. After that find a familly member with kids (if you have none yourself) and practice with the shorter glass. This should get you of to a good , no pressure, start.
Happy shooting, Dellboy.

What do you mean the 24-105 f/4 L is a girls lens? If I had the money I would buy it to replace my 28-135 IS..... it's got a great focal range.

I never said it was. My wife did. And after allowing me to buy all of this I HAVE to agree with her, no matter what she says. Although if it is her lens and it turns out to be a great lens, it will be a great girls lens. What do you mean the 24-105 f/4 L is a girls lens? Congratulations, that looks like a well-thought-out list.
what was the buzz like getting all those toys delivered at once? christmas and birthday combined, I bet. Smart move getting Mrs Doc to join in the party too.
You need to post a picture of your new toys, then go look for some ducks and some twigs....
Enjoy!

It was her idea to get it all as she wants to get into the hobby. Who am I to argue.

I have actually had my 30D since May. The one I just bought was for my wife. We thought we could share lenses, but probably not bodies.

Actually I also have a Storm Jacket so I could. Just hard to get excited about going out and getting drenched. Well hopefully tomorrow. Then I will really be overwhelmed with the thoughts of which lens to use first and where to go.

Dark and dreary - if it's dry, it's flower close-up time. Nice even lighting. Get the extension tubes out with that 70-200!
