Hi everyone,
I just had a look at a friends G5 and I notice that while looking through the view finder, I could see part of the Lens. I do not get the full view of my subject and part of it was blocked by the lens on the bottom left hand corner. Is that normal?

No, absolutely not normal. You need to remove the lens and then it will not block the viewfinder.

I guess you don't have a G3 either.

No, I don't own G3 but I did have G2 though. I jump from G2 to D60 then to 10d

I just think the viewfinder is an afterthought. with the paralax, it is mostly useless anyway. I do not think I have ever used it for composition anyway. Poor design, maybe, but at least is is just the viewfinder that is a poor design than say an LCD that does not pivot.

Very true, in the scheme of things no a great problem but it just surprises me that they did that. I love my G2 very much (when I had it) and recommended heaps of people to puchase it and the g3 and now the g5 but I have never seen g3 or g5 until yesterday. So I was quite surprise to see the problem.
Thats why these forums are really good. Thanks everyone for your help

I have the G3, (no kidding, I really do) and would not trade it unless someone gave (GAVE) me a EOS-D1s with full complement of lenses...
